This tutorial provides an explanation of how to sort articles by order in category in Joomla 3.x.

Joomla 3 introduced a new feature to sort the articles by using drag-and-drop. Let’s consider you would like to sort your articles by order on the Team page. In order to do it, you should perform the following steps:

1. Log into your Joomla admin panel and navigate to Menus -> Main Menu.

2. Locate Team menu item and click on it:

   

3. Once you have done it, select the Blog Layout tab:

   

4. Locate Article Order drop-down list and choose Article Order option.

5. Hit Save & Close button above to save your changes:

   

6. Navigate to Content -> Articles:

   

7. Click on the Search Tools.

8. Please note that you can sort the articles only within a specific category.

   In order to see the articles of the Team category displayed on the Team page, you need to locate Select Category option and choose Team category. Now you can see the list of all the articles of this specific category:

   

9. You are able to sort the articles items using the drag-and-drop feature. There are two ways to activate it.

   • The first way is to click on the small up and down arrows in the top-left corner of the screen.

   • The second way is to choose Ordering ascending or Ordering descending options in the filter located in the top-right corner of the screen:

   

10. Now you can re-arrange your articles with drag-and-drop feature. To start sorting the items, select the dots in the left column and drag-and-drop items to your liking:

    

11. Once you have re-arranged your articles, you can refresh your website and review the changes.
